SARALI VARISAI
Sarali Varasai's are the fundamental exercises which help you to understand the basic swaras (notes) of Carnatic Music. They allow you to get a feel for the melody and the rhythm.
The sequences follow a logical order - ascending and descending, up to the 7th Varisai (first 7 exercises). The last 7 exercises help you move smoothly up and down the scale. Concentrate on getting the notes right, then add taaLa. Then, learn to sing the lesson in four speeds.
How long does it take to learn Sarali Varisai ?
It all depends on your inborn and grasping ability. Some people will learn in less than 2 months, while some people take more time.
Is Carnatic Music Good for You ?
