Sooji Pakora / Rava Pakoda are crispy fried fritters made with sooji, curd/yogurt, onion, green chillies, red chilli flakes and some Indian spices. This snack is very easy to make and perfect to have with a cup of tea or coffee on cold weather. It tastes so delicious and crispy in every bite.
This instant rava pakoda is a lip smacking and all time favorite snack throughout India. It is very easy to make at home under 20 minutes. These yummy pakodas do not need any preparation in advance. Diwali Recipes
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup rava / sooji / semolina
- 1/2 cup curd / yogurt
- 2 green chilli - chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger - chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves - chopped
- 1 tsp red chilli flakes
- 2 tbsp onion - finely chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- pinch of baking soda - optional
- salt to taste
- oil - for deep frying
PROCEDURE
- in a large mixing bowl, add rava and curd
- mix well, cover with lid and rest for 15 minutes
- add chopped green chilli, ginger, onion, coriander leaves, red chilli flakes, salt, baking soda and water
- mix well and rest the bowl again for another 5 minutes or until the rava absorbs well, the batter will turn slightly thick and the batter is ready
- pinch a small batter from the bowl and drop in hot oil and fry on medium flame until the pakoda turns golden and crisp (stir occasionally)
- drain off the pakoda over a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil
- Enjoy! rava pakoda with tomato ketchup or coconut chutney

- adjust spice level according to your taste
- for no onion no garlic recipe, skip adding the onions and make pakoda
- adding baking soda makes more fluffy batter and crispy pakoda
