Tamil Nadu style chicken masala recipe. In Tamil Nadu, chicken curry tastes varies from district to district and from home to home. I usually tend not to make the same recipe again and again, love to make different styles of chicken each time.
Here I will show the Tamil Nadu style chicken masala recipe, for this no need to add any whole spices like Garam Masala or coconut. It's a very simple and easy one pot chicken recipe made under 30 minutes and tastes very delicious.

RECIPE FOR CHICKEN MASALA
Coarse : Side Dish, For rice, Chapathi and Dosa

INGREDIENTS
- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 red chilli
- 2 green chili
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1 large onion - finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 medium size tomato - chopped
- 500 g chicken
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1.5 tbsp coriander powder
- salt to taste
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves - for garnish
PROCEDURE
- clean chicken with turmeric powder twice or thrice
- heat oil in a pressure cooker
- splutter cumin seeds and fennel seeds
- then add curry leaves, red chili and green chilli, saute for few seconds
- add finely chopped onion
- saute well until it turns transparent
- add ginger garlic paste
- saute well in medium flame until the raw smell goes
- add chopped tomato and cook well until it turns mushy
- now add chicken along with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt
- mix well and cook for 2 minutes in low medium flame or until the oil leaves the sides of the pan
- add water and mix well
- pressure cook for 3-4 whistle and then switch off the flame
- once the pressure subsides down naturally, open the cooker and garnish with coriander leaves
- taste great with chapathi, dosa or parotta

- if the consistency is thin, continue to cook the chicken in low flame for 4-5 minutes or until it thickens slightly
- this chicken curry can cook in open pot and cook in low flame for 30-40 minutes
