BASIC HEALTHY OATMEAL RECIPE | STARTUP COOKING
Porridge is a hot preparation of one or more grains (oats, buckwheat, millet, rice or wheat) cooked in water or milk. It can be served with fruits or nuts, but in America, the term porridge traditionally refers to Oatmeal and the following preparation is very common for basic oatmeal recipe.
After I came here to USA, I'm a huge oatmeal fan! I used to eat oatmeal every alternative day and one of my all time favorite breakfast. It's so warm, comforting and healthy.
Health Benefits of Oatmeal : Oats are a whole grain, low in saturated fat, low in cholesterol, naturally gluten-free and a good source of fiber. The soluble fiber in oatmeal can also help lower cholesterol levels and reduce risk of cardiovascular disease.
There are many different types of oatmeal, Steel cut oats, old fashioned/rolled oats, quick or instant oats. I personally tend to prefer rolled oats for breakfast recipes.
