CHICKPEA SUNDAL | STARTUP COOKING
One of the easiest recipe to prepare during weekdays, simply season the boiled chickpeas with freshly grated coconut. It's very delicious. This snack recipe is very healthy and rich in protein. It is an easy to make recipe which can be made in just few minutes and it's one of the popular street food.
Chickpea sundal recipe is often served as a Prasad in the temples of Southern India. This sundal is also served in every home that celebrates the festival of gollu during the Navaratri Season. The mustard seeds, urad dal, hing, red chilli, curry leaves and grated coconut brings out the authentic flavors to this sundal recipe. It's also a perfect tea time snack.

Chickpea Sundal Video Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup chickpeas
- 2 cup water - to soak
- salt to taste
- 1 cup water - to pressure cook
- 2 tsp oil
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- 1/4 tsp hing
- 2 red chilli
- handful of curry leaves
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
PROCEDURE
- soak chickpeas in water for overnight at least for 8 hours
- add chickpeas along with 1 cup of water and salt in cooker
- pressure cook for 5 whistle
- once the pressure subsides naturally, open the cooker, chickpeas should be easily mashable
- drain the water completely
- heat oil in a pan
- add mustard seeds and allowed to crackle
- add urad dal and saute till dal turns golden
- add hing, red chili and curry leaves
- add cooked chickpeas and mix well with the seasoning items
- saute for 1 minute
- add grated coconut
- mix well and switch off the flame, add salt if needed
- Chickpea sundal ready
