BANANA APPAM RECIPE | BANANA PANIYARAM | WHOLE WHEAT BANANA PANIYARAM | SWEET APPAM
The instant sweep appam or banana appam using the whole wheat flour. This sweet appam is easy to make and it does not require to soak or grind rice. Adding mashed banana, coconut and cardamom powder will enhance the flavor to the appam. This is also a perfect school lunch box recipe. RECIPE FOR BANANA PANIYARAM

INGREDIENTS
- 1 riped banana
- 1/2 cup grated jaggery
- 1/2 cup water to dissolve jaggery
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tbsp rava (semolina) or rice flour
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- 1 cup water or as needed to make batter
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp cardamom powder
- salt to taste
PROCEDURE
- take 1 riped banana in a bowl
- mash the banana using fork or masher
- heat 1/2 cup water in a pan
- add grated jaggery
- dissolve the jaggery
- filter the jaggery to the mashed banana
- add grated coconut, whole wheat flour, rava or rice flour, baking soda, salt and cardamom powder
- whisk well. Check the batter must be free from lumps
- add required amount of water to make thick flowing consistency batter. Do not add too much of water.
- heat paniyaram pan or appam pan
- add 1/4 tsp oil in each hole
- pour batter in each hole, if need cover and cook well
- when the base sets and turns light golden brown, flip over to other side using skewer
- cook well the other side too
- serve hot or cold
- serve as a breakfast or as a evening snack

Banana Appam with Step-by-Step Photo Recipe
heat 1/2 cup water in a pan
add grated jaggery
dissolve the jaggery
take 1 riped banana
place it in the bowl
mash well using fork
filter the jaggery in to the mashed banana
add whole wheat flour
add rava or rice flour
add baking soda
add cardamom powder
whisk well
add required amount of water
batter should be thick flowing consistency
batter should be free from lumps
heat paniyaram pan
add oil in each hole
pour batter in each hole
once base sets and turn light golden brown, flip over to other side using skewer
cook other side too and allow to turn golden brown color
serve hot or cold, tastes yummy
