RAW BANANA FRY | VAZHAKKAI VARUVAL| VEGETABLE STIR FRY

RECIPE FOR RAW BANANA FRY

INGREDIENTS
- 1 raw banana
- 1.5 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- 1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp sambar powder
- salt as needed
- 1 tbsp rice flour (optional)
PROCEDURE
- take 1 raw banana
- remove the head and tail
- peel off the skin using a peeler
- slice into thin rounds
- soak in water to avoid darkening
- heat oil in a cast iron wok
- add mustard seeds, urad dal and hing, saute until dal changes color
- add curry leaves and allowed to turn crisp
- add turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt
- mix well
- add sliced raw banana and discard the water
- combine well with all the spices
- cover and cook in low medium flame
- cook until raw banana turn brown and crisp, stir constantly
- add rice flour if you want
- toss well
- cook for 1 minute
- switch off the flame
- serve with sambar rice, curd rice or rasam rice

Take 1 raw banana
cut the head and tail and discard it
