METHI PARATHA | STARTUP COOKING
Methi paratha are Indian flatbread made with whole wheat flour, fenugreek leaves, spices and ajwain. Methi Parathas are healthy, delicious and flavorful, which are rich in iron, dietary fibre, calcium, and potassium and often we used to prepare for lunch.
Fenugreek leaves are also called as Methi Leaves. They have a distinct flavor and it is slightly bitter in taste. Fenugreek leaves may be able to help reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart conditions, inflammation, etc., It has numerous healthy benefits so try to include it in your diet atleast once in a week.

RECIPE FOR METHI PARATHA

INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1 cup fenugreek leaves (chopped)
- 1/4 cup yogurt | curd
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp ajwain seeds (crushed)
- 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- water as needed
- 2 tsp oil
- oil for making parathas

PROCEDURE
- in a large mixing bowl, add wheat flour, chopped fenugreek leaves, yogurt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, salt, crushed ajwain seeds and ginger garlic paste
- mix well
- add water little by little and make a soft and smooth dough
- add a tsp of oil on top of the dough, cover and rest for 30 minutes
- pinch a medium sized ball dough, add some flour, roll and make a round circle using rolling pin
- place the prepared paratha in the hot tawa
- add a tsp of oil on top of the paratha and spread to all over the sides and cook for a minute
- then flip over the paratha to other side and cook evenly or until the golden brown spots appear on them
- repeat the same process with the remaining dough
- serve methi paratha with raitha, paneer curry or any other vegetable curry
NOTES
- for parathas use only the leaves not the stalks
Methi Paratha with Step-by-Step Photo Recipe
add wheat flour in a mixing bowl
add chopped fenugreek leaves
add yogurt/curd
add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and salt
add crushed ajwain seeds
add ginger garlic paste
add required amount of water
mix well and make a dough
dough is ready. cover and rest for 30 minutes
pinch a medium sized ball dough, sprinkle some flour
roll and make a round shape using rolling pin
place in the hot tawa
spread some oil on top of the paratha
flip over to other side
cook evenly or till the golden spots appear on the paratha
serve hot with raitha, pickle or any vegetable curry of your choice
