RECIPE FOR BEETROOT PEAS PULAO

INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 tsp ghee
- 1 tbsp oil
- 3 cloves
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 2 bay leaf
- 1/4 tsp fennel seeds
- 10-12 cashews
- 1 medium size onion - thinly sliced
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 medium size beetroot - grated
- 1/4 cup fresh peas
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- salt as needed
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves for garnish
PROCEDURE
- take 1 cup basmati rice with enough water and add a tsp of oil in it so that rice won't stick together
- cook and drain the water. keep the rice aside
- take one medium size beetroot, peel the skin, wash and grate the beetroot and keep it aside
- heat ghee and oil in a pan
- add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf and fennel seeds
- saute well
- add cashews, saute till it turns color
- add thinly sliced onions, saute until it become translucent
- add ginger garlic paste, saute till the raw smell goes
- add fresh peas and grated beetroot
- mix well
- add red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt
- combine well
- cover and cook in medium flame, saute well for every 5 minutes till beetroot and peas cooked completely. (if need add 1/4 cup water)
- add cooked basmati rice
- mix well (don't break the rice)
- cover and cook in low flame for 10 minutes, so that rice will combine with beetroot, peas and all the spice powders.
- serve hot with onion raitha.
Beetroot Peas Pulav with Step-by-Step Photo Recipe
take 1 cup basmati rice
add enough water
add a tsp of oil
rice cooked completely
drain the water and keep the rice aside
heat ghee and oil in a pan
add cloves, cinnamon, fennel seeds and bay leaf
add cashews, saute till it changes color
add thinly sliced onion
saute well till it become translucent
add ginger garlic paste and saute well till raw smell goes
add fresh peas
add grated beetroot
mix well
add red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt
cover and cook in medium flame, saute every 5 minutes, until peas and beetroot cook completely, if need add 1/4 cup water to cook veggies
add cooked basmati rice
combine well
cover and cook in low flame for 10 minutes, so that rice will combine with veggies and all spice powders
serve with onion raitha
