RECIPE FOR EGG THOKKU | EGG ONION TOMATO GRAVY

INGREDIENTS
- 3 egg
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves
- 2 inch cinnamon stick
- 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 big onion - finely chopped
- 1.5 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 medium size tomato - finely chopped
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp sambar powder (equal ratio of red chilli and coriander seed)
- salt as needed
- 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- water as needed
- few coriander leaves for garnish.
PROCEDURE
- boil egg with enough water in a pan for 10-15 minutes in a medium flame
- cool down completely
- peel the skin and split into half
- heat oil in a pan
- add cloves, cinnamon and fennel seeds
- add finely chopped onion
- saute till onion become translucent and light brown
- add ginger garlic paste and finely chopped tomato
- saute till oil separates from the onion and tomato
- add curry leaves, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt
- add half a cup of water
- mix well, cover and cook for 5-7 minutes in low medium flame
- add splitted egg
- add garam masala
- again add half a cup of water
- mix well
- cover and cook in low flame for 20 minutes or till the oil separates from the gravy
- garnish with coriander leaves
- serve hot with steamed rice, roti or chapathi.
EGG THOKKU | EGG ONION TOMATO GRAVY WITH DETAILED STEP-BY-STEP PHOTO RECIPE
Boil 3 egg with enough water
cool down completely, peel the skin off
heat sesame oil in a cast iron pan
add cloves, cinnamon sticks and fennel seeds
add finely chopped onion
saute well
saute till onion turns light brown color
add ginger garlic paste
add chopped tomato
saute till tomato turns mushy
cook well till oil separates from onion and tomato
add curry leaves
add turmeric powder
add sambar powder
add salt
add half cup of water
cook for 5-7 minutes in medium flame
add splitted egg
add garam masala powder
mix well and add half cup of water
cover and cook in low flame for 20 minutes
gravy thickens
garnish with chopped coriander leaves
serve hot with steamed rice or roti. It tastes delicious
