This salmon fish curry is my mom favorite recipe and it's one of my favorites too! We usually cook seafoods on weekends. Salmon fish is fantastic taste and it's made with different Indian spices. I'm adding tamarind that breaks through and lightens the pungency of the spices. This recipe is simply outstanding!

SALMON FISH CURRY VIDEO RECIPE
RECIPE FOR SALMON FISH CURRY

- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 1/4 tsp hing
- 12 garlic cloves - minced
- 1 cup shallots - roughly chopped
- 1 tomato - chopped
- 1/2 cup thick tamarind pulp
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 3 tsp kuzhambu milagai powder
- salt to taste
- 1 pound salmon fish
PROCEDURE
- clean salmon fish in running tap water, next gently scrub with rock salt and again wash it thoroughly and set the fish aside
- heat sesame oil in a pan and temper with mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, hing and curry leaves
- add minced garlic and shallots
- saute well in medium flame until they turn translucent
- add chopped tomato and cook well till it turns mushy, here the oil has to separate from onion and tomato mixture
- once the oil separated from the mixture, add tamarind water, turmeric powder, kuzhambu powder and salt
- add 1.5 cup of water and mix well
- cover with lid and cook for 15-20 minutes in medium flame or cook the curry until the oil starts to float on top
- now add cleaned salmon fish and gently mix the curry
- cover with lid and cook on low flame for 5-8 minutes
- cook the curry until the salmon fish cooked completely
- once fish cooked well, then switch off the flame and serve with hot steamed rice, idli or dosai

NOTES
- for this recipe, you can use any variety of store bought fish fillet like halibut, kind fish, cat fish, mahi mahi, etc., and it works just fine
- you can also try with thin coconut milk for creamy flavored fish curry
